This was my attempt at cubism.   I have not studied cubism before and I am still learning.   I do realise this is not exactly the look I'm hoping to achieve so will need to keep practicing.  😀

Humphrey Weightman

Today in class we had a visit from a great graphic designer,  Humphrey Weightman.   He gave us a talk on everything from how he started getting into graphic design to where he is now.  He explained the differences in cost,  processes and the colours used from when he started to now.  He also explained how things have dramatically changed over the years and was very detailed in explaining everything.   I really enjoyed listening to everything he had to say as I have not really looked into design before, I am definitely interested in learning more.  Humphrey started from nothing and is now a self-employed, successful graphic designer.   It's lovely to hear a success story as it gives hope for the future,  I feel that I can achieve my goals and now feel positive about pursuing a career in art and design.

The Haining.

These are some of my favourite pictures i took at The Haining, Selkirk.  This was the first time i used my camera, my real camera - not my phone.  I am amazed at how well these came out.  We were also very lucky that it was a lovely day as without the beautiful lighting , i do not think the photos would have came out as well as they did.

THE HAINING

Yesterday we took a trip to visit,  "The Haining",  in Selkirk, which is in the Scottish Borders.  It was built in the 12th century and has a large amount of land surrounding it.   There is a loch,  which you can walk all the way around and fantastic views from wherever you are within the grounds.   Unfortunately My photos are still on my memory stick but I will be adding them very soon.   I had a great time taking in all the breathtaking views and capturing some gorgeous pictures.  I will keep you posted as this is a beautiful place,  I'm sure you will agree when you see the pictures.

Sam Cornwell

Today we had Sam Cornwell come in and do a talk about his work.  He done an amazing presentation on photography, i never knew there were so many different ways to use photography.   I thought it was very interesting and I loved the ideas behind why he took the photos he did.  Sam said he likes to take photos of things which you can date- I thought this was brilliant.  My favourite part of the presentation was the Astrophotography he had done, I was fascinated by the beautiful detailed pictures he had taken and I cant wait to discover even more about photography.  Loved it.

Oliver Reed

The other day in class we had Oliver Reed show us his portfolio on landscape designs.  I have not looked at a lot of landscape designs before but i was very impressed.  He used different techniques and materials to create different landscape pictures and i am interested in learning more.
