Inge Panneels - Artist and Academic

Inge Panneels is a local Artist and Academic based in Lilisleaf in the Scottish Borders.  As an Artist,  she creates glass designs for various clients.
One piece that she done was a collaboration titled,  "Bricks". This is a window design for a Georgian house in Edinburgh,  it is 3.2meters high by 1.3meters wide. Another request was for Panneel to create 3 differently designed lightboxes out of glass to be placed in various waiting rooms in a Hospital.  Each design was simple but nice to look at.
"The walk" is a piece of glass artwork inspired by the work of William Wordsworth and Basho, both poets who created work on walking.  The Artwork is 3 pieces of coloured glass placed in a row in light to dark.
"Liverpool Map" is another collaborative project with Jeffrey Sarmients. It is a map of Liverpool,  measuring 2.1mx33cmx5cm. It celebrates the legacy of City of Culture 2008.
There are various other projects which Panneels has worked on but one of my favourite is the Jurgen Doom, mercator micro macro. It consists of two different colours of glass, cut together then pieced together like a jigsaw. The image is digitally drawn then cut with a  water edge cutter,  this uses water edge technology and traditional craft then the glass is made smaller by heating it then it is made into a ring.
